Turn security alerts into informed response
An alert is only useful when someone determines what it means and what to do next. CyberTech Labs combines security event monitoring with investigation, response guidance, and assisted containment to help your team act on threats affecting your environment.
Discuss your MDR requirements
Support for the team responsible for your security
MDR can help organizations that have security tools in place but need additional capacity to investigate alerts and coordinate a response. It can also extend an internal IT or security team's capabilities through an agreed division of responsibilities.
We begin by reviewing your environment, security priorities, available telemetry, and current incident-handling process. That establishes which systems are covered and how our analysts and your team will work together.
What our MDR service includes
- Security event monitoring: review signals from the data sources agreed for the service and correlate related activity.
- Alert triage and investigation: assess suspicious events, gather relevant context, and prioritize incidents for action.
- Response guidance: explain the findings and recommended next steps so your team can make informed decisions.
- Assisted containment: help your authorized team carry out the containment actions agreed for the incident and supported by your environment.
- Incident communication: document findings, recommended actions, and the response work carried out within the agreed scope.
Assisted containment, with clear responsibilities
Containment decisions can affect business operations. During onboarding, we agree on the people authorized to approve actions, the available technical controls, and the escalation path when a decision is needed.
Depending on the incident and your available controls, containment options may include isolating an affected endpoint or restricting a compromised account. The service scope defines which actions CyberTech Labs can assist with and which actions your team carries out.
How an MDR engagement works
- Scope and onboard. Identify covered assets, connect the agreed data sources, and establish contacts, coverage hours, and response responsibilities.
- Monitor and investigate. Review alerts, correlate events, and investigate activity that may require a response.
- Escalate and assist. Communicate relevant findings, recommend actions, and assist with authorized containment.
- Review and improve. Review incident findings and agreed follow-up actions with your team.
Agree on coverage before the service starts
The proposal defines supported tools and data sources, covered systems, service hours, escalation channels, reporting arrangements, and any response-time commitments. It also makes clear what depends on your team's availability or access to third-party systems.
Discuss any requirement for overnight, weekend, or continuous coverage during scoping. Your service agreement should reflect the coverage and response arrangements your organization needs.
Managed detection and response: common questions
How is MDR different from security event monitoring?
Monitoring focuses on observing activity and identifying alerts. Our MDR offering adds investigation, response guidance, and assisted containment, so the engagement covers both understanding suspicious activity and helping your team act on it.
Can we keep our existing security tools?
We review your tools and available data sources during discovery. The proposal confirms what can be supported, any prerequisites, and where additional configuration or access is needed.
Who approves containment actions?
We agree on authorization and escalation responsibilities during onboarding. Available actions, approvals, and the division of work between CyberTech Labs and your team are documented in the service scope.
Does MDR replace penetration testing?
No. MDR focuses on security activity and incident response within the agreed environment. Penetration testing is a separately scoped assessment of exploitable weaknesses. The services address different needs.
